PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Our 2023 Financial Hardship Grant – Round 1 is available for Texas homeowners who are having trouble keeping up with their mortgage payments due to economic hardships caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Financial hardship must have occurred on/after January 01, 2022. Recipients will receive a (1) one-time grant of $2,500.00 paid directly to their mortgage servicers electronically.
Homeowners currently in foreclosure will be given priority status. Funds are available to those earning under 100% of the Area Median Income. Homeowners who are at-risk of being late on their mortgage are eligible to apply. Grant funds are not associated with any federal, state, or governmental programs. Utility assistance is also available for those who qualify. There are no fees associated with grants.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
To be eligible for Grant
- Must be experiencing a financial hardship on/after January 01, 2022. Such as loss income or increased expenses due to the pandemic
- Total household income must be at or below 100% Area Median Income
- Must be at least 18yrs of age
- Must own a home located in the following counties: Kaufman, Terrell, Dallas, Tarrant, Rockwall, Collin, Denton, Hunt, Van Zandt, Ellis, Navarro, Henderson, Rains, Ennis, & Johnson
- Application must be signed and submitted by March 31, 2023

IMPORTANT DATES:
Applications must be Complete and Submitted with Full Documentation By March 31, 2023 at 11:59 PM Central
- Grant applications for Round 1 start January 03, 2023
- Application deadline for Round 1 ends March 31, 2023
- Grantee notifications sent via email by April 15, 2023
- All grant funding sent electronically to mortgage servicer by April 30, 2023. Foreclosures will receive priority status
FAQ'S
Does the grant need to be repaid?
No. This is a grant. It does not need to be repaid.
I receive SNAP food stamp benefits do I add it to my grant application?
No. We only count income from employment wages, child-support, SSI/Social Security, and retirement/pension.
I am not past due but I am short on money for my mortgage payment. Can I still apply?
No. You are not eligible to receive a grant if you are not currently past due.
Do I need to live at the property to receive assistance?
No. You do not have to be living in the home. You must be the owner. If this is an investment property it must be vacant.
My county is not listed. Can I still apply?
No. The application for other counties will be available in the subsequent funding rounds. Please check website after the current Round closes for updates.
I received COVID-19 pandemic assistance from the state. Do I still qualify?
Yes you still qualify. These funds are not associated with the COVID-19 pandemic homeowner assistance funding offered from the State of Texas and the government. Our grant funding does not come from government sources.
Is this grant from the State of Texas, Federal, or some part of the govenment?
No. The funding for our Homeowner Mortgage Relief program comes directly from our private and corporate donors. The grants do not come from the government at all.
Why is my social security number required on the grant application?
Your social security number is required for our internal reporting and client file tracking purposes. Grant recipients will receive a Form 1099 for all disbursed funds which requires your social security number. We do not report individual grant information to the IRS. Please consult a professional tax preparer if you have additional questions regarding IRS income taxes.
How many times can I apply for the grant?
You may apply each time the application period is open. However you may only receive (1) one grant per year.
