Extra Programs

Easter Program     We kick off the year by helping our clients celebrate Easter. We feed our clients a full meal including ham, chicken, sides, and dessert. In addition all children receive an Easter basket full of candy and extras.

Birthday Wishes     Many of our clients are homeless youth or very low-income families who don’t have the funds to celebrate birthdays. All kids are special and we believe their birthday is special as well. That’s why each kid associated with SMART Choices receives a birthday gift from us. This may be the one and only present they receive from anyone.

Summer Lunch Program     During the summer months when the kids are out of school, SMART Choices provides a “Summer Lunch Program” for all school-aged children. We provide them with lunch, games, crafts and field trips.

Back To School   As children get ready to head back to school, low-income families face another dilemma … school supplies. SMART Choices would like to help relieve parents of this burden by supplying all school-aged children with backpacks filled with supplies that will aid them in their learning experience.

Tis’ the Season for Giving     This is our favorite event of the year. The season of giving is just that at SMART Choices … a time to give. We provide not only an enormous Holiday dinner but we also distribute presents and stockings to all of children affiliated with SMART Choices. Santa Claus himself even stops by for a personal visit.

Pulling off a party of this size is no small feat. It takes the hard work and dedication of many staff, sponsors, donors, and dozens of volunteers to make the magic happen. Check out our wish list items. You can get involved by:

  • Coordinating a Toy Drive in your office, neighborhood, or place of worship. We need new, unwrapped toys for children ages infant to 18. We’ll provide the boxes, the signs, and everything you need to make it a success. Sign up here to coordinate a toy drive on our behalf.
  • Becoming a sponsor. Are you a business who would like to sponsor the holiday party with either an outright donation or an appropriate gift in kind? Click here to let us know!
  • Volunteering. We welcome individual volunteers as well as employee groups and faith groups — for everything from gift wrapping to greeting and serving a holiday meal. Click here to sign up and find out more.
  • Making a gift. We need the support of people like you to provide children and families with the support they need to get back on their feet, including bringing joy through events like the holiday party. Click here to donate.
